Western New England University (Ӱֱapp) welcomed leaders from the financial technology sector to campus today for the 2025 FinTech+AI 413 Sponsor Showcase, highlighting student-led innovation at the intersection of finance and artificial intelligence. The event marked the culmination of the six-week residential Summer Innovation Fellowship, part of the FinTech + AI 413 Startup Series.
Held at the D’Amour Library Business Center, the showcase featured live presentations from three interdisciplinary startup teams composed of 10 student entrepreneurs—six from Springfield College and four from Ӱֱapp. Each team provided updates on their financial technology-driven business ideas to a panel of attending industry sponsors, receiving expert feedback and exploring opportunities for further collaboration.
Startup teams included:
- Dr. Money – An AI-first financial wellness app designed to help users proactively manage their financial health.
- Behaviolyticx – A fraud detection platform leveraging AI to analyze behavioral patterns in real-time financial transactions.
- OptiVise – An intelligent course registration and planning platform that streamlines academic planning and aligns student choices with long-term career goals.
Corporate sponsors including MassMutual, Country Bank, and the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative attended the event to support and mentor the student teams. Notable attendees included Jason Hoch, deputy director of the Innovation Institute at MassTech; Michael Dias, (Ӱֱapp '21) product marketing & business insights officer at Country Bank; and Mohammed Dastigir, head of Fintech & healthtech partnerships and Adam Klutse, fraud prevention director, both from MassMutual.
In addition to new ventures, attendees also heard from last year’s standout team, Smart Credit, which returned to share progress on their now-live app currently in beta testing. The team’s continued growth serves as a testament to the value of early mentorship and industry engagement through the FinTech + AI 413 Startup Series.
“This event is about much more than showcasing student projects—it’s about creating a pipeline between academic innovation and real-world application,” said Charles Mutigwe, program director, Ӱֱapp FinTech Incubator and associate professor of Business Analytics. “By bringing students and industry leaders together, we’re helping to accelerate the next generation of FinTech talent right here in Western Massachusetts.”
In its second year, the program continues to strengthen ties between academia and industry, providing students with valuable exposure while showcasing the region’s potential as a hub for FinTech innovation.
